Wie bei einem Wellenbrecher wird die ankommende Energie stark heruntergebrochen, was die nachgeschalteten SPDs deutlich entlastet. Alle Typ 1-Ableiter der Red/Line-Produktfamilie weisen die Wellenbrecherfunktion WBF auf.
