Spark gaps or varistors?
Interest in combined lightning current and surge arresters has been stimulated by the trend towards more compact electrical systems, where lightning current arresters can be replaced in order to provide both lightning and surge protection for the electrical system and the sensitive consumer and control devices.

Czech Republic
Electron 2011 International Fair, was the first of a series of fairs on electrical engineering started new in the Czech capital of Prague. Traditionally such events are the opportunity for innovative products to be awarded.
System management of Surge Protective Devices (SPD) for the protection of IT systems was the contribution and submission of DEHN + SÖHNE.
Mainly Czech and Slovak university professors are members of the awarding committee. Particularly the economical and ecological effects as a result of the long-term reduction of costs and losses due to the monitoring of the surge protection system was paid special attention and rated as very important.
The mentioned advantages of the SPD management system are an essential contribution to increase also the operational safety.
This idea is new in the field of surge protection and has a positive effect on the protective systems.

Moscow's landmark equipped with lightning protection components from DEHN
The Saint Basil's Cathedral is situated at the southern end of Red Square. With its distinctive 16th century architecture it is a symbol of Moscow or even Russia.
Within the scope of the cathedral's comprehensive restoration DEHN components were
used for the lightning protection system.
The "hovering" installation was carried out by industrial climbers.
